2022 Assist. Coach

Jason Topper - 16 North Assistant Coach - 2022

Metro VBC Jason Topper - 16 North Assistant Coach -2022

"I am excited to be coaching for the 16 North team this year. I know we will continue to get better every day and have a great season!"

I learned to play volleyball for my HS team (New Oxford) in Pennsylvania. My freshman year was our program’s inaugural season and we consisted of only freshman and sophomores. It was a challenging those first few years, but it was great to be a part of building a strong program. I spent most of my time as an outside hitter.   A few years after I graduated, our team knocked of the #1 ranked 26-0 favorites in the state quarterfinals and we continued on to become 3A State Champions. Much of my time was spent playing volleyball until my first coaching position with Urbana HS in 2009 (MD State Semifinalist) and 2010.  Additionally, I have coached U15 and U16 at the club level. This will be my first year coaching for Metro. It is great joining a program that has already built such a strong reputation in the region.

I graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania for my undergrad and completed my Master’s Degree at The George Washington University. Intramural volleyball and flag football were my two most enjoyable sport activities in college. These days I spend my time as a financial advisor for Turning Point Financial in Frederick and losing my golf balls all over various courses in surrounding area. I am also on the board of SOAR a Frederick County Charity that helps to support low income seniors in the county with basic needs. Our family consists of my wife Jen, our 3 children, and our 2 fun loving golden retrievers. Our two daughters Brea (former Metro player and 2018 Oakdale VB State Champion) and Reese (Metro player) both love playing volleyball. Our son Justin swims for MAC and isn’t sure if volleyball is for him or not yet. I will keep trying to persuade him.
